A rare 1969 Lamborghini Miura was discovered sitting in a garage in southern Germany with only around 29,000 kilometers (18,000 miles) on its odometer. Sotheby’s will be selling the ‘time capsule’ complete with its original service book and correspondence between the car owner and the company on October 24th. The price will likely get close to £1,000,000.
The retro sports car had been unused for four years by the time it was found. Before that, it is reported that its owner used it only very rarely and very carefully.
The classical Miura is still in top condition and has a history that can be tracked down to the first owner. Apparently, an advertising manager purchased it in 1971 and resold it three years later to Hann Peter Weber, amateur racing driver who mostly just kept it in good working condition and seldom drove it. Weber died in 2015, but it wasn’t until recently that his property has been put up for sale.
The original Lamborghini Miura comes powered by a V12 engine rated at 370 hp (276 kW). It needs 4.5 seconds to get going at 100 km/h (62 mph) and tops out at 284 km/h (176 mph).
