Lamborghini has officially introduced the Sian, its first production supercar with a hybrid powertrain and also its most powerful one to date. The production run is limited to 63 cars, and the entire batch is already sold out in pre-orders.
The Lamborghini Sian comes powered by a potent V12 engine rated at 785 horsepower (585 kilowatts), an electric motor contributing 34 hp (25 kW), and a supercapacitor that functions as a substitution for the lithium-ion battery. The nominal output of the system amounts to 819 hp (611 kW). Acceleration from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes 2.8 seconds, and the top speed, reportedly, lies above the 350 km/h (217 mph) mark.
The super coupe sports a futuristic exterior with several elements borrowed from the Lamborghini Countach. These include the diagonal hood stripes, the glass parts of the engine bay cover, the hexagonal taillights, and the Periscopio sunroof.
One of the major features of the superhybrid comes in the form of active cooling vanes at the rear end, allegedly made from a ‘smart substance’ that reacts to different temperatures of exhaust gases.
All 63 Lamborghini Sians will undergo extensive customization in Lamborghini Centro Stile. Customers will enjoy access to an exhaustive list of exterior and cabin trim options. The show car you can see here sports a greenish livery with golden highlights and has a Poltrona Frau leather-wrapped interior with 3D-printed ornamental inserts.
