Lamborghini has produced its entry-level sports car Jalpa from 1981 until 1988. There was a time when the car shipped with a 3.5-liter V8 rated at 254 hp (189 kW), which enabled it to sprint 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in six seconds flat. Overall, the coupe looked quite well-specced for the era, but in the end the production run never exceeded the originally planned 410 units.
This is what the Australian team Full BOOST laid their hands on. First off, the guys swapped the old engine out for a 383 Chevrolet LS1 Stroker Kit with 5.7 liters of displacement. Second, they fitted it with a couple Ford XR6 turbochargers.
The measured performance at the crankshaft exceeded 800 hp (600 kW), while the actual power delivery to the wheels came close to 690 hp (515 kW). More than three times the factory values – isn’t it just splendid?
