Lamborghini to auction off five NFT tokens materialized in ‘space carbon’

Lamborghini has announced a project it calls Space Key, which makes a detour from the world of cars into the realm of digital technology and art: the key offers a new perspective on NFT collection and exists in a tangible form sculpted from a piece of carbon fiber with an aeronautical background.

The Italian automaker sent a certain quantity of carbon to the International Space Station over two years ago. It has now received it back and hired a mystery artist to craft five works of art out of it.

Each Space Key represents a metal plate with a square carbon fiber insert and a series number. The carbon square bears a QR code that contains a link to the NFT token associated with it, and that NFT corresponds to a work of art of that very “mystery artist.” The way it sounds, the Keys are identical except for their serial numbers and the artworks they are associated with.

The automaker remains tight-lipped about the essence of the art or even its general direction. New information will emerge as soon as the auction date is announced for the Keys, the company says.
