The camera-wielding, car-spotting crowd has discovered a brand new vehicle being tested next to the Lamborghini headquarters in Italy. Could it be a flagship successor to the discontinued Aventador?
The car featured in the video had its tailpipes raised very high – probably higher up the rear end than the taillights. Each of the hexagonal finishers concealed what looked like a pair of normal round tailpipes inside.
Other than that, the test vehicle sported a telltale tapered body with door-mounted mirrors and smaller-looking fender intakes. It looked like gullwing doors could still be present, too.
From the technical point of view, the new Lambo supercar is going to be based on a carbon fiber monocoque. It is also going to be powered by a state-of-the-art V12, the company’s third twelve-cylinder engine in history. An electric motor will help it gain launch momentum and reduce harmful emissions.
Lamborghini said it would facelift the Urus SUV in 2022, unveil a successor to the Aventador in 2023, and follow up with a replacement for the Huracan in 2024. In 2027-2028, the marque hopes to introduce its first all-electric supercar.
