Lamborghini shovels in nearly 3,000 preorders for a still-unannounced car

The successor to the iconic Lamborghini Aventador has never been shown to the public or discussed by the company in any detail, yet it has already managed to attract around 3,000 reservations, CEO Stefan Winkelmann said in his interview to ABC.

He stressed that only precious few customers received hints from the automaker regarding the character of the upcoming supercar; most just pre-ordered it in blind faith. He said he saw it as a confirmation of the great faith the fan community has in the Italian brand.

The Aventador successor has been spotted testing on the street multiple times already – you can see it in our gallery and video below. However, all technical specifications remain secret. Rumor has it that the car will combine a V12 with an electric motor and possibly become the marque’s last production car with a combustion engine like that.

According to Winkelmann, the key feature of EVs when compared against ICE cars is their crazy acceleration performance, but Lamborghini fans don’t see it as the main priority. A Lambo EV has to retain the marque’s familiar handling and performance in corners, while braking, etc. All these tiny details will need to be sorted out before production can begin.
