Lamborghini Aventador to get a hybrid variant

Lamborghini has lately been giving us hints that the next generation of its Aventador line would be all-electric. When the time came for the premiere at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, however, company CEO Stefano Domenicali suddenly announced that the car will be a hybrid.

According to Domenicali, the new Lamborghini Aventador will keep its original twelve-cylinder engine, but will get certain electric drivetrain components as well. Allegedly, the unusual construction of the hybrid power unit should enable it to stand out in the crowd of competitors.

The next-gen Huracan and Urus will also be getting similar hybrid drivetrains.

Technical specifications or the planned cost of the new Lamborghini Aventador aren’t public information yet. The vehicle should premiere around 2020. Until then, the company wants to bring out a new SVJ coupe that would set a new high score at the North Loop track of Nürburgring.
