A 40-year-old, rather worn Lamborghini Countach is on sale in the United States right now. Despite its condition, it has already been bid to $305,000 with a few days remaining on the auction clock – largely owing to its unique background and being the first unit ever made.
The car in question is the first Countach LP500 S shown to the public. The listing claims the manufacturer put this very car on display at the Geneva International Motor Show in the year 1982.
The main novelty in the S spec was the engine: the old 3.9-liter mill rated at 350 PS (345 hp / 257 kW) made way for a new, larger V12 with 4.8 liters of displacement and 368 PS (363 hp / 271 kW). A five-speed manual gearbox transmitted the torque to the rear wheels, enabling a sprint from zero to 96.6 km/h (60 mph) in 5.4 seconds.
Furthermore, this specific supercar had belonged to Carlos Cavazo, Quiet Riot guitarist, for three and a half decades since 1985. In 2020, the owner planned to restore the coupe, but ended up simply disassembling it and putting it back together.
The engine and transmission are stock, as are the exterior and interior colors. Having said that, the world’s first Countach LP500 S is no longer completely stock: it is missing its Weber carburetors, with a more up-to-date injection system installed in their place.
