$1.3M Lamborghini Diablo revival project reveals details

In early August, San-Marino-based coachbuilder and tuner Eccentrica Cars announced the upcoming production of 19 Lamborghini Diablo restomods (we reported). The company has since attended The Quail at the Monterey Car Week and supplied most of the details about the project, including the price.

Like any self-respecting bespoke car project, this one overhauls everything from the chassis and the bodywork to the powertrain. Starting with the chassis, it is much sturdier now thanks to modern composite reinforcements, and rides on double-wishbone suspension with TracTive adaptive shocks at all four corners. The company claims that these modifications allow the resurrected Diablo to feel much more like a modern supercar than it did when it was released, and we feel inclined to believe.

The 5.7-liter V12 under the hood gets new cams, a throttle body with electronic control and a six-speed manual for the transmission. It commands 55 extra PS (54 hp / 40 kW) over the stock car, meaning 550 PS (542 hp / 405 kW) total. The top speed with these modifications rises to 335 km/h (208 mph).

As you must have noticed, the exterior and cabin successfully pull off a fusion of modern and retro parts. There is a carbon-fiber front bumper with integrated LED DRLs, more streamlined side panels compared to the original, and an appropriately simple rear end with Capristo exhaust pipes. The interior looks no less compelling, combining a nostalgia-inducing trim with such modern features as an electronic rearview mirror and a Marantz speaker set.

Every Eccentrica V12 costs a minimum of 1,200,000 EUR, which converts to approximately 1,340,000 USD.
