A 1997 Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster that used to belong to Donald Trump around two decades ago will cross the auction block in Scottsdale, Arizona later this month with under 40,000 km (25,000 miles) under its belt.
The Italian automaker saw Trump’s interest in the Diablo roadster as an advertisement opportunity of sorts. To make sure the car stood out, it received a unique finish called Blu Le Mans, not used on any other Lambo assembled that year. It also ended up with a plaque reading ‘Donald Trump 1997 Diablo’. The then-businessman owned the car until 2002 and then sold it. The title mentions two owners since Trump.
The pre-facelift version of the Diablo VT Roadster came out in a production batch of just 132 units in the United States. All cars came equipped with the same 5.7-liter V12 tuned to 492 PS (485 hp / 362 kW) and 580 Nm (428 lb-ft) of torque, five-speed manual transmission and AWD. The 0-60 mph (0-96.6 km/h) launch time amounted to 4.1 seconds.
