The Italian supercar manufacturer has begun unveiling the powertrain of the vehicle coming to replace the retired Huracan. It is supposed to be hybrid, but for the time being, we are invited to look at its petrol component – a 4.0-liter V8 turbocharged to 800 PS (789 hp / 588 kW). It will debut along with the car in August.
The new V8 comes equipped with two turbos tucked in neatly between the cylinders and features a flat camshaft, as well as a dry sump. Part-titanium piston configuration enables it to rev up to 10,000 RPM, with the peak power output attained between 9,000 and 9,750 RPM. The torque maxes out at 4,000 RPM and stays there until 7,000 RPM.
Rumor has it the company will ship the car with an electric motor built into its eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. It will allegedly pump out 150 PS (148 hp / 110 kW) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of its own. That said, the powertrain may or may not include four independent e-motors driving one wheel each, like in the recent Lamborghini Revuelto. This remains to be announced.
