Lamborghini Huracan sets new world speed record

The resplendent Lamborghini Huracan supercar has updated a world record in drag racing by accelerating to 418 km/h (260 mph) on a half-mile drag strip. See the YouTube video for the epic moment.

The standard Lamborghini Huracan was modded by Underground Racing before the race, resulting in a performance increase to stellar 3,000 hp (2,237 kW).

The vehicle features a ten-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine, a sequential transmission and AWD.

Reportedly, the car could accelerate to a greater speed, but the gear switch lagged in the most crucial moment when going into the second gear. The team said it was still happy with the achieved results.

Underground Racing is a car tuning atelier famous for its drag-racing-oriented vehicle modifications. Almost every single racer who aspired to beat a drag race record with his car took it to Underground Racing for engine tuning. Another vehicle modded by the atelier – this time a Lamborghini Gallardo – has recently managed to accelerate past 410 km/h (255 mph) in the same half-mile challenge.
