The Lamborghini Huracan STO is a lightweight, road-legal racecar

The leaked photos allegedly depict the Italian carmaker’s latest and greatest super coupe, the Huracan STO. The letters stand for ‘Super Trofeo Omologato’, which means a street-legal conversion of the famous racecar (see video).

The prototype can be seen wearing a huge rear wing and an air scoop on the roof. Rumor has it that it packs the same 5.2-liter V10 as the regular Huracan EVO with is 640 PS (471 kW), but weighs in at 100 kg (220 lbs) below the RWD EVO. As such, its curb weight is going to be close to 1,280 kilos (2,822 pounds). The brakes and the suspension are also going to be on par with their Super Trofeo counterparts in terms of performance.

The STO will be Lambo’s single most track-focused street-legal Huracan, the source claims. The Performante spec used to fulfil that role, but the two are quite different on a conceptual level. The Performante has AWD and active aerodynamics, whereas the STO packs RWD, weighs much less, and relies on its rear wing for the downforce.

The Super Trofeo Omologato will emerge in a series estimated somewhere between 400 and 700 units, according to different sources.
