World’s first supercar issued in 1968 heading to auction on June 11

Gooding & Company will be offering to buy an ultra-rare Lamborghini Miura P400 S. The coupe was the first supercar in history to reach mass production in 1966, although this specific example left the factory in 1968.

Marcello Gandini himself designed the exterior of the Miura P 400 S, with ‘S’ for ‘Spinto’ (‘bold’ or ‘rapid’). Compared to its non-S counterpart, the special edition boasted an especially comfortable cabin, sharper dynamics and handling, and a boosted engine. Specifically, its four-liter V12 mill received another 20 horsepower and hit the wheels with 370 PS (365 hp / 272 kW).

The car on the auction block wears an original lime livery. It was thoroughly restored back in the 2000s, ending up with a fresh paint coat, an interior overhaul and an engine swap, although the new mill came from an identical Miura.

The sale will commence on June 11, 2021, and the owner expects to bring home £1 million.
