Lamborghini Aventador SVJ looks dashing on carbon-coated wheels

Following the launch of the new Lamborghini Revuelto, the owners of other Raging Bull supercars have been going through a minor existential crisis that inevitably happens when something dear to you suddenly gets perceived as old by the crowd. The owner of this 2018MY Aventador SVJ splurged on posh ‘carbon’ wheels for his ride to keep it fresh-looking.

The impressive Strasse rims measure 20 inches in diameter at the front and 21 inches at the rear. The front pair is rather standard with a width of 9.5 inches, while the rear pair goes all-out drag racing aesthetic with ultra-wide 13-inch rims. Concealed hardware almost makes you believe that the entire wheel is made out of the same lightweight material.

The reality is more prosaic than that. Most ‘carbon wheels’, including these, are actually made by ‘carbon-dipping’ them to create the signature pattern. In other words, the base of the wheel is still forged aluminum, and there are no weight savings. That said, they look upmarket and exclusive and cost a pretty penny, too, so why not?

In case you forgot, the Aventador SVJ utilizes a 6.5-liter V12 to drive the wheels with 770 PS (759 hp / 566 kW) and 720 Nm (531 lb-ft) of torque. One of its main upgrades over the stock Aventador comes in the form of an active aero kit increasing the downforce by up to 40 percent.
