The Italian supercar maker has revealed that its very first fully electric car will be out in five years’ time, and will be a four-seater belonging in the Gran Turismo class.
The corresponding data was discovered this weekend in a press release dedicated to the company’s other electrified vehicle – the Revuelto PHEV.
Lamborghini announced its first engineless car within the framework of its Direzione Cor Tauri strategy in May 2021. Detailed until the end of the current decade, the document envisions a complete electrification of the Lamborghini lineup. At the same time, then-CEO Stefan Winkelmann announced to the media that the development of a four-seat, likely two-door EV had already started.
In spring, he amended that statement by explaining that Lambo had its sights set on a ‘comfortable grand tourer’ with more ground clearance than the marque’s other supercars, but less than the Urus.
It is still unclear what the automaker’s firstborn BEV will look like. Since the design has not been finalized yet, it might as well end up with a four-door exterior of the Estoque Concept from 15 years ago (in the gallery and video below).
