The twelve-cylinder-packing hypercar Lamborghini SCV12 has been spotted during tests multiple times already, but the disguise was impervious. The patent-related schematics published today arguably reveal more detail than the recent spy photos and videos did.
Based on the pics, Lamborghini Squadra Corse did much to ensure perfect aerodynamics for its latest hypercar, endowing it with numerous air intakes, flaps and winglets. Unlike the Aventador SVJ, however, the newcomer makes do without the active aerodynamics system called ALA.
Based on a carbon monocoque with a subframe at the front and a few stainless-steel frame details, the coupe utilizes an Xtrac six-speed sequential transmission. The feature list goes on to mention push-rod rear suspension attached to the gearbox, an adjustable self-locking differential, racing-grade slick tires, and magnesium-alloy wheels.
The Lamborghini SCV12 draws its power from a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 rated above 830 hp (620 kW). While it does have new body and chassis, most reporters seem to agree that it takes after the Aventador in several places.
As a purebred racer, the SCV12 will eschew such excesses as headlights and taillights, infotainment and climate control, and some other comfort-oriented options. This will enable it to weigh less than the Aventador SVJ with its 770 hp (568 kW) under the hood and 1,525 kg (3,362 lbs) of dry weight.
The reveal should take place before the end of summer. Pricing and availability remain unknown.
