Italian luxury car manufacturer Lamborghini has taken the wraps off the Urus ST-X, a racecar conversion of its street-legal Urus SUV meant for participation in the upcoming single-make racing series.
Compared to its ‘civilian’ version, the new SUV boasts a carbon-fiber hood cover with massive air intakes, a tailgate wing, a roll cage, an FIA FT3-comliant fuel tank, and a fire extinguishment system. At just 1,650 kilograms (3,638 lbs) curb weight, it is a whopping 25% lighter than its road-going counterpart.
The engine stays the same, but this is hardly a problem, given that the unit in question is a four-liter, twin-turbo V8 sending up to 650 hp (485 kW) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The Lamborghini Urus ST-X will hit the racetrack in about a year, when the Super Trofeo Finale begins. Later on, it will participate in numerous other races, both on smooth tarmac and sand/gravel.
