Lamborghini unveils the roadmap for next decade

Lamborghini CEO Stefano Domenicali has lifted the veil over the company’s plans for the next several years, notably mentioning a brand-new model.

The Italian automaker currently has three models on its lineup: Aventador, Huracan, and Urus. A new car with 2+2 seating formula might complement them around 2025-2027. Its exterior design is almost finished, but the engine range and platform remain to be decided upon, with the company considering going hybrid or all-electric.

Lamborghini had a record year in 2019, selling around 8,200 cars as opposed to just 5,750 in 2018. The target for next year is 8,500, and the introduction of the fourth car mentioned above should permanently raise the annual target to over 10,000.

With 55% of the total sales, the Urus remains the most popular Lambo by far. To satisfy the demand, the company is looking to expand its production capacity – but not in the near future. It is also working on a hybrid version of the Urus slated to become the flagship of the line.

Domenicali also said that a road-legal version of the Urus ST-X Concept was in the works, underway to its first competition next year. The coupe-shaped SUV will attempt to speed-run a mixed track with 20% of it lying off-road. In 2021, it will participate in a tournament.

As for the Lamborghini Sian, the company has sold all 63 units of its newest supercar within three months. In 2020, the Squadra Corse division will be unveiling a new track hypercar armed with a 6.5 V12 engine churning out 830 hp (620 kW). Two special editions of the Aventador will come out next year priced close to €3.5 million each.
