German tuner HGP Turbonachrüstung GmbH has released the long-anticipated Stage 2 kit for the Lamborghini Urus, which lets it zap from standstill to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 2.9 seconds.
The unprecedented project pushes the output of the stock twin-turbo V8 from 650 hp (485 kW) all the way to 960 hp (716 kW). The torque simultaneously rises from 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) to 1,250 Nm (922 lb-ft).
The reported acceleration times are equally impressive. The bulky, heavy Urus only needs 9.2 seconds to hit 200 km/h (124 mph) and doesn’t hit its speed ceiling until 340 km/h (211 mph). This pretty much puts it on par with the Porsche 918 Spyder and Ferrari 488 Pista, and the McLaren 675 LT isn’t too far away, either.
Interestingly, HGP never felt the need for a full turbocharger swap, instead working with the stock model. Other noteworthy changes include a new air intake system, an Akrapovic exhaust, and thoroughly reprogrammed engine and transmission control units.
