Lamborghini introduced the Urus on December 4, 2017, and has now revealed just how popular the car had been all these years.
Apparently, more than 16,000 SUVs has been sold so far, a record high for the Italian marque. The Urus proved an especially attractive choice for newcomers: 85% of owners said it was their first Lamborghini.
In order to keep up with the deliveries, the company doubled the area of its production site in Sant’Agata Bolognese from 80,000 to 160,000 square meters and hired over 700 new employees.
In 2018, this resulted in a 40% growth of annual turnover to around €1,415,000,000. The next year saw 8,205 Uruses delivered and €1,810,000,000 made. For understandable reasons, the figures declined somewhat in 2020, but the profits increased despite the pandemic.
In January-September 2021, the company shipped 6,902 cars to customers, a 23% improvement over 2020 and 6% over the year before. This included 4,085 Urus, 2,136 Huracan and 681 Aventador units.
A facelifted Urus should debut next year with a number of improvements and a hybrid option rated at 820 PS (809 hp / 603 kW), if we are to believe the rumors.
