Lancia sheds some light on its next EV flagship

The Italian carmaker has confirmed plans to design three new electric vehicles over the course of the next few years and supplied some details about the most powerful one. It will be a fastback-style supercar running on the STLA Medium platform. The production is planned for late 2026, but the name is still a secret.

Lancia characterizes the car as ‘elegant’ and ‘innovative’. At 4.7 meters (15.4 feet) long, the company believes it is large enough to create the atmosphere of a classic Italian living room in the cabin. If it sounds familiar, that’s because the automaker used the same words to describe its Pu+Ra HPE Concept when it premiered this spring (in the gallery below). For the range, Lancia targets ‘up to 700 km’ (435 miles).

The transition to all-electric power is considered a renaissance of sorts for the venerable Italian company. Lancia hopes to begin its return to relevance in 2024 with the launch of the next generation of its Ypsilon hatchback. It is set to ship in multiple powertrain versions, including hybrid and fully electric.

The company says it intends to get rid of ICE cars in its portfolio in 2026 and to release a new Delta generation in 2028. Going forward from there, it plans to design exclusively electric vehicles.
