Legendary Lancia 037 lives again through the Evo37

Italian niche carmaker Kimera Automobili and its CEO, ex-rally driver Luca Betti, have unveiled the first Kimera-badged standalone car model. Named the Evo37, it is a restomod dedicated to the iconic Lancia Rally 037, the last 2WD rally car to have won the WRC Constructors’ Cup.

The engineering crew redesigned all the units and components of the car based on those found in the more recent Lancias, including the Delta Evoluzione and the Delta S4. Despite the abundance of modern materials and features, the company claims the restomod stays very close to the 39-year-old original.

The exterior looks familiar, but the car is now 4,055 mm long instead of just 3,890. The body is made of carbon fiber, and the lighting all around is LED-based. Driving the rear wheels is a 2.15-liter turbocharged four-pot rated at 505 PS (498 hp / 371 kW) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque. Transmission can be manual or sequential, and acceleration times remain to be announced.

The interior remains a bit of a dark horse, but the company promises us a classical, non-digital dashboard, hydraulic parking brake, and Delta S4-style seats wrapped in leather and Alcantara.

The model will celebrate its official premiere at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in two months. A total of 37 units will be produced. Shipments are expected to begin early this fall, and Kimera claims it has already received 11 pre-orders. Prices will start from €480,000.
