Kimera Automobili, the company that brought back the legendary Lancia 037 as a replica, has announced an expansion of the lineup. With all Kimera Evo037 units sold out, the automaker is planning a new flagship version and a racecar.
The former is called Evo038. It is basically an Evo037 Integrale of sorts, i.e., a sportier and more dynamic version of the original Evo037 project. Compared to the original, it has an all-wheel-drive system similar to that used by the 1980s-era rally cars, and wears a different body kit. The turbocharger setup and the exhaust system are also new.
The racecar is named K-39 and is only shown via a scale model so far. It sports a retro appearance and aero kit, and Kimera stays tight-lipped regarding any technical details. All we know is that the car will be released in a strictly limited production run wearing the iconic Martini Racing livery. It will be admitted to official racing events, but it remains to be decided which ones.
As for the original Kimera Evo037, it debuted in the summer of 2021 with a 2.1-liter turbo four-pot under the hood. The output amounted to roughly 500 PS (492 hp / 369 kW). Only 37 were made and sold starting from $500,000.
