Lancia Ypsilon exposed with storied headlights and a plump rear end

Quattroruote has secured two photos apparently showing the final production version of Lancia’s next-gen Ypsilon hatchback. Where they were made is unknown, but you can get a good idea about the car from looking at them.

The front end snapshot reveals a black bezel around the hood, lighting units built into the front bumper, and a quartet of plastic trims below the air intakes. Quattroruote believes that these trims conceal the extra air intakes that may be essential for the rumored Ypsilon HF flagship coming in 2025 with 240 PS (237 hp / 177 kW) under the hood. Another theory is that one of the trims may be concealing a charging port.

Moving on to the rear, it looks very unusual with round taillights, Y-shaped light patterns and a protrusion on the tailgate looking like a faux ducktail spoiler.

Lancia has repeatedly stated that it was aiming for a ‘living room’ feel in the cabin. To that end, the five-door hatchback will get a round table on the transmission tunnel, although its exact purpose remains unknown. The infotainment system on board is called SALA and supports voice commands. It was developed by Lancia in-house with a name that’s a play on words. ‘SALA’ apparently stands for ‘Sound Air Light Augmentation’, but it also literally means ‘living room’ in Italian.
