Brooklyn Coachworks has joined efforts with Timm Cooper to design a one-off retro SUV, the Land Rover Series One 107 UTE. We’re willing to bet you’ve never seen old looks and modern tech work together so nicely.
The vehicle had its entire undercarriage redone from scratch. Highlights include purpose-built axles, high-end Toyota differentials, and disc brakes on all wheels. The biggest change lies in the engine bay, which is presently occupied by a naturally aspirated Chevrolet Small Block V8 rated at 327 horsepower (244 kW). To compare, the stock two-liter mill was barely capable of 50 hp (37 kW)! Assisting the engine is a new four-speed manual transmission by Novak Conversions.
The SUV got to keep its vanilla 15-inch wheels, but received a new tire set with a more distinct off-road focus. The front bumper received a winch, the headlights were fitted with LEDs, and the cabin was overhauled with special attention paid to preserving its retro style.
The one thing that disturbs us slightly about this Land Rover Series One 107 UTE is the lack of headrests and (visible) safety belts. You may have not needed those with 50 horses under the hood, arguably, but the restomod calls for much better organized safety. Oh, well.
