Land Rover and Virgin Galactic have announced a promotional campaign called The Adventure of a Lifetime: U.S.-based owners of Land Rover SUVs can participate in a lottery to win a ticket and board the Virgin Galactic spaceship along with its regular crew.
Both new car buyers and owners of existing LR cars are admitted, but the number of virtual tickets gained – and the odds of success – depends on your status. For instance, pre-ordering a new car nets you 50 tickets. Buying one outright gives 100, and bringing your family and/or friends in to participate in the lottery further enhances the winning odds.
Joe Eberhardt, CEO of Jaguar Land Rover North America, calls the upcoming space flight the greatest adventure of the 21st century and says the lottery is your “one-in-a-lifetime chance” to go into space.
Applications will be accepted until June 20, and the results will be announced on August 15, 2022. There are other prizes, too – road trips organized by Land Rover Experience, assorted accessories and souvenirs from both participant companies, and more.
It has been several years now that Land Rover and Virgin Galactic work together. In July 2021, when the SpaceShip Two Unity did its first flight with the complete crew on board, Land Rover vehicles were used to transport the crewmembers (including Virgin Galactic CEO Richard Branson) and the starship itself.
