Just look at this Defender styled to look like a Hot Wheels toy car! Isn’t it wonderful? The job took Australian car aficionado Brian Reginald and his son two years and $30,000 AUD to complete.
The family from Brisbane has been collecting Hot Wheels cars for a decade and a half already, so it should not come across as surprising that they eventually wanted to build a life-size copy of their favorite toy vehicle.
They acquired an old 1985 Defender Country SUV for a mere $1,000 AUD, gave it a fluorescent paint, swapped the engine in favor of a modern V8, and lowered the ride height with air suspension. Brian now claims his ride can do up to 180 km/h (112 mph) in a straight line.
A Defender stylized to look like James Bond’s car from the movie “Spectre” has popped up on sale earlier this year. The vehicle sported a 50 mm (2”) suspension lift, fender flares, a roof rack with an access ladder, a roll cage, extra headlights, a redesigned hood cover, and a unique radiator grille.
