As you probably know, E.C.D. Automotive Design is a U.S.-based car customizer almost exclusively specializing in building one-off Defender SUVs for wealthy corporate clientele. Their latest work – the Project Harmony – stands on its own, though.
Mainly, because the car used this time around is a Land Rover Defender IIA that used to be produced in the 1960s. E.C.D. hasn’t had much prior experience with such elderly vehicles, so the project started in 2013 to be completed only a few days ago.
A modern V8 engine rated at 430 hp (321 kW) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque constitutes one of the main features of the restomod. The original engine was almost four times less powerful. A six-speed automatic transmission and a Borla exhaust system assist the new mill.
The Project Harmony comes wrapped in a dark-green wrap, but it is perhaps the interior that warrants the most attention. Save for minimal cosmetic touches, the entire cabin is left in its pristine 1960s state, something E.C.D. Automotive Design never did before. This adds an immense nostalgia factor to the build and makes it all the more unique.
