Video: LR Defender withstanding extreme stress tests on the James Bond movie set

Land Rover and EON Productions have filmed a short video dedicated to the 25th instalment in the James Bond: 007 movie franchise. One of the major roles is going to be performed by a Land Rover Defender.

Co-designed with Chris Corbould, special effects technician, the SUV will be featured in a chase scene, but not before stunt drivers run it through a series of endurance tests. Stunt coordinator Lee Morrison and professional racing driver Jessica Hawkins have already performed quite a few of these in some of the worst off-road conditions imaginable.

The movie car is a black Defender 110 X equipped with 20-inch wheels, special all-terrain tires, 291 millimeters (11.4 inches) of ground clearance, and air suspension. It can wade in water reaching as high up as 900 mm (2.95 ft.) and comes powered by a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine assisted by an electric motor for 400 hp (298 kW) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) total output.
