Watch the 2020 Land Rover Defender perform stunts in the new James Bond movie

The promotional video is called ‘Unstoppable,’ and it seems like the filming crew went to great lengths to test the new Defender for off-road endurance.

Land Rover announced last summer that the next-gen Defender SUV would be prominently featured in the James Bond: No Time to Die movie coming up in 2020. Car spotters have since managed to make quite a few spy photos and videos of the SUV. This latest bit of footage has the advantage of being official, though.

The 25th instalment in the James Bond saga features a Santorini Black Defender 110 X fitted with 20-inch wheels and special off-road tires. In fact, the filming crew ordered 10 such cars from the very first production batch to have rolled off the lines of JLR’s new factory in Nitra, Slovakia. This fact may be of special interest to car collectors, because one of the 10 Defenders actually has its VIN reading ‘007’.

The minute-long video shows the Defenders traversing water and mud, descending a steep slope, and even making a spectacular 30-meter (100-feet) long leap. One of the SUVs tumbles to the side towards the end, but the driver manages to get it back up and running as if nothing had happened.

In its long-wheelbase version, the new Land Rover Defender 110 boasts 291 mm (11.4 inches) of ground clearance and can wade water up to 900 mm (2.95 ft.) high. As soon as you lift its air suspension to the max, its approach angle amounts to 38 degrees, departure angle to 40º, and ramp angle to 28º.
