E.C.D. Automotive Design churns out another luxed-up Defender

U.S.-based auto restorer and tuner delivers exquisitely restored and feature-packed Land Rover Defender classics one after another. In early April, they presented the unique Land Rover Series IIA Project Henry.

‘Unique’ might be a stretch here, though, because the SUV leans heavily towards the Harmony Project revealed in July 2019. It comes powered by the popular Chevrolet-badged LS3 V8 crate engine bolstered to 400 hp (300 kW). A five-speed manual gearbox sends the momentum to all four wheels.

Exterior novelty is surprisingly scarce; perhaps the client wanted his/her Defender to look as authentic as possible. The body and the 16-inch steel wheels stay unchanged, except for a new glossy finish in Chawton White. The tires are BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A K02, the suspension is modern and sports-oriented, and the powerful headlights stem from the slightly more recent 1976 Defender IIA Series. Given that the SUV itself rolled off the lines in 1961, this still technically counts as an upgrade.

Inside, the seats and the dashboard preserve their stock appearance, but the new Lady Terra leather trim with Chestnut stitching freshens things up quite a bit.
