This Osprey Custom Cars Defender looks great, but provokes a déjà vu

Osprey Custom Cars – a tuner shop from South Carolina that occasionally produces a great restomod – has rolled out a 1993 Land Rover Defender D110 that we’d like to have a better look at.

The car comes re-painted white with black details, which suits it splendidly. Terra springs cater for the suspension lift, and the steering rods and stabilizer are new. There is a LED rack up on the roof, a winch at the front end, and a snorkel pipe for wading deep in water.

Lift the hood cover to reveal a  6.2-liter Corvette LS3 V8 sending up to 525 hp (391 kW) and 659 Nm (486 lb-ft) of torque to all four wheels via an automatic transmission.

The cabin did not avoid the overhaul, either. New additions include Alcantara on the ceiling, power windows, heated sport seats, a keyless entry system, and a modern radio with a high-end audio system.

At U.S. $189,000, the restomod is nearly four times the starting price of the 2020 Land Rover Defender. But this isn’t the most interesting part about it. The interesting part is that the car vividly remind us of the E.C.D. Automotive Design “Project Savage”, both in terms of appearance and feature list. Could this be a wild coincidence…?
