Land Rover Defender turns into a commercial van for Europe

Land Rover has unveiled the Defender Hard Top, the commercial van conversion of its iconic SUV. The company has been using the “Hard Top” name for over seven decades.

Customers will be able to purchase three – and five-door versions of the van, and the latter will even ship with optional air-ride suspension set to 291 mm (11.37 inches) of ground clearance by default.

Inside, the front seat row will be the only one remaining, although you will be able to order a three-seater sofa instead of two separate seats. The car has no rear windows and compensates for this by having a reverse-mounted camera and the Advanced Tow Assist system for easy reversing with a trailer attached. The maximum supported trailer weight is 3.5 metric tons (7,700 lbs).

The trunk volume, standard weight capacity and engine options remain to be announced at this time. The Land Rover Defender Hard Top should become available in Europe in the coming few months.
