Twisted announces NAS-E, a batch of 30 electric Defender restomods

British auto shop Twisted continues to turn classical Land Rover Defenders into modern battery cars. The latest series is called NAS-E and starts from hefty £185,000.

Each Twisted NAS-E comes based on the original soft-top Defender model produced between 1993 and 1997 and is available exclusively in the United States.

The team removes the stock engine and transmission, replacing both an electric powertrain normally rated at 214 hp (160 kW) and 380 Nm (280 lb-ft). A 60-kWh traction battery is used, granting the car around 200 miles (322 kilometers) of range on full charge.

Those who would like more kick out of the powertrain may opt for NAS-E Plus, which boasts 320 hp (239 kW) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of maximum torque.

The feature list also mentions performance brakes, adjustable shocks, up-to-date infotainment system, leather seats and climate control.
