There’s simply no counting how many old Land Rover Defenders get their second chances as restomods every month, most often landing with Chevrolet engines under the hood. This specific example stems from Himalaya, an experienced tuner when it comes to building custom Defs (watch the video for an example).
The Defender 110 Summit Series featured in our gallery here comes powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V8 good for 650 hp (485 kW) and 881 Nm (650 lb-ft) of torque. It packs an eight-speed automatic gearbox with a transfer case, three diff locks, Dynatrac solid axles, four-link coilover suspension, Fox shocks, and Brembo brakes with six-piston calipers at the front end and four-piston ones at the rear.
Exterior mods include the radiator grille, wheels, heavy-duty bumpers, main and additional lights, fender extensions, and a Warn winch. Pop a door open to see a new dashboard, a Nardi steering wheel and a redesigned center console. Natural leather covers the front fascia, the door panels and the seats, while Alcantara lines the ceiling.
A conversion like this would cost you U.S. $250,000 - $300,000, base vehicle not included. Cutting corners to the max can bring the price down to around $115,000, Himalaya reports.
