How about putting some rust on your new, shiny Defender?

Netherlands-based car customizer Heritage Customs has an unusual proposal to all Land Rover Defender owners: for a fee, you can have certain exterior details replaced with rusty metallic ones.

When Porsche made a similar offer on April 1, it predictably turned out a joke – but Heritage Customs seems dead serious. The company claims it uses a technology that enables it to accelerate the corrosion process by orders of magnitude, and then seal the result upon reaching the desired level of rustiness to prevent it from spreading further.

Those who somehow don’t feel like treating their SUVs like this may still opt for other metallic looks offered by the tuner shop, including latten brass, titanium, bronze, and even gold. The coatings can reportedly last up to 20 years.

Also available for the new Land Rover Defender are Heritage Customs Black Crow wheels sized 22 inches across, and a full interior makeover using genuine leather and carbon fiber.
