Next-gen Defender 130 eight-seater spied testing for the first time

Land Rover promised us earlier this year that a long-wheelbase variant of the new Defender SUV would come out within 18 months. Here’s proof that some work has already been done on the off-roader.

Pictured on the spy photos is a rather long camouflaged vehicle with unmistakable edgy LR Defender styling cues. While not official, rumor has it that this new version is 5.1 meters (201 inches) long – 342 mm (13 inches) longer than the Defender 110 and 228 mm (9 inches) longer than the Mercedes-Benz G-Class.

As a car that can accommodate up to eight passengers, it should be priced considerably above the base model and ship only in higher trim specifications. Buyers will be able to choose among gasoline, diesel and hybrid powertrains. As for the official premiere, it likely won’t happen until 2022.
