Land Rover has stated multiple times that it wanted to expand the Defender family, and it now looks like a particularly upmarket version could be in the works, set to premiere in 2025.
According to Autocar, the SUV will be based on the same MLA platform as the next-gen Range Rover and Range Rover Sport. The MLA lends itself to various kinds of powertrains, but is not optimal for all-electric cars. Despite this, there are reports that an all-electric variant of the Defender is also in development.
The luxury SUV will likely offer three rows of seats and be larger than the current 90 and 110 models. Having said that, a seven-seater will complement the range in the current generation as well, as evidenced by the photos in the gallery here.
