A recent YouTube video puts a pair of LEGO brick cars to a real-world test on a treadmill. In it, a tiny replica of the Tatra T813 8x8 with a Land Rover Defender on the bed uses its toy car suspension to overcome speed bumps and ramps.
The tests are set up with great attention to detail: both cars received functional shocks and springs, and the Defender’s four wheels were immobilized with a chain, much like in real-world scenarios. The treadmill then started.
Both cars passed the test easily at 7 km/h (4.3 mph). At 16 km/h (10 mph), the Tatra had its tank under the bed deformed slightly. Later on, a particularly nasty ramp claimed one of the fastenings of the Defender. Finally, at 21 km/h (13 mph), the tow truck lost a front wheel and the Defender broke loose from the bed.
