The team over at E.C.D. Automotive Design has unveiled a restomod based on the classic 1988 Defender 90, which got rid of its legacy bits in favor of some great modern equipment, including a powerful Chevrolet V8.
The 5.7-liter naturally aspirated V8 connects to an eight-speed A/T. It looks like the precise output is not mentioned anywhere, but reinforced modern axles, heavy-duty brakes and a Borla exhaust system all hint that power is one thing this Def has more than enough of.
The wheel arches are inhabited by 16-inch old-timer steelies. New bumpers, radiator grille and spare wheel at the tailgate suggest that you can probably take the restomod off the trodden path – if you dare, that, is, considering its price.
Another aspect that has changed entirely is the interior, which now offers soft leather padding interspersed with precious wood inserts. Modern equipment on board includes the steering wheel, the dashboard, the headliner and door panel trim, an Alpine multimedia system plugged into some JL Audio speakers, a reversing camera, remote engine start and much, much more.
E.C.D. did not mention the pricing, but such projects inevitably wind up far into the six-digit USD territory.
