British tuner opens vault with 16 special Land Rover Defender 110s

Restoring dilapidated automotive classics can be a very expensive endeavor – perhaps this is why Twisted Automotive decided to buy 200 old-gen Land Rover Defenders before they went out of sale and sell them little by little after some tuning. Only 16 cars remain now, and each is unique in some way.

According to Charles Fawcett, the owner of the company, these are all Defender 110 models registered in 2016 when the production was already officially over. All cars have fewer than 50 kilometers (30 miles) under their belt and sport chassis numbers or dates of manufacture that are either unusual or symbolic. In other words, the whole batch should present considerable interest to car collectors.

However, as you could probably guess, the shop with the word ‘Twisted’ in its name has no intention to sell them as is. Rather, the company will be tuning and modernizing each example to add uniqueness and value. For instance, petrol engines will be equipped with dual turbos and boosted to 312 PS (308 hp / 229 kW) and 475 Nm (350 lb-ft) of torque. Diesels will be improved via software means and minor hardware upgrades to 176 PS (174 hp / 129 kW) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque.

The stock transmission, suspension and brakes will make room for their more recent and sports-friendly equivalents. As for the wheels and the interior, customers will be able to choose pretty much whatever they like.

Pricing-wise, the most affordable Twisted Defender 110 Utility Wagon will run on diesel fuel and start from £135,000. The most expensive 110 Station Wagon (petrol spec) will start at £184,500 before options.
