E.C.D. Automotive Design has produced two very similar-looking Land Rover Defender 90 restomods with identical soft tops and exteriors, but different cabins. The project was carried out for two old friends who felt like driving similar cars.
The exteriors were given a paint-over in green, while the cloth top was allowed to stay black for contrast. 16-inch deep-concave wheels slotted into the wells shod in BFGoodrich off-road rubber. For added safety, both SUVs received an external roll bar with LED spotlights mounted on it for driving in nighttime and in bad weather.
The first of the cars shown, the Project 67, ended up with a Momo Prototipo steering wheel and a cream-tinted leather makeover in the cabin. The rear seats were removed in favor of two paratrooper-style benches facing each other. From the options list, the customer ticked off AC, 110V sockets and a wireless charger.
The other car – named the Project Flamingo – received a warmer-hued, softer leather overhaul with a black Nardi Challenge wheel and the center console also offset in black. The back area looks rather unusual with one bench seat installed to face two separate seats.
Like it or not, E.C.D. Automotive Design emphasizes that no two restomods shall be the same. This means that, even if you want two identical cars, you will have to choose how to introduce meaningful differences between them to keep each example unique.
