E.C.D. revives a 39-year-old Defender D110 the way it deserves

It is common knowledge that cars driven in harsh conditions (including off-road) are much harder to restore than garage-kept classics, sometimes to the point when it is no longer worth the time and money. Luckily, the team over at E.C.D. Automotive Design knows its business well enough to turn a 1984 Land Rover Defender into a flawless restomod.

The five-door SUV is a rare Signature Edition finished in jet black and equipped with a rugged body kit for protection. E.C.D. puts 20-inch Kahn Mondial Retro wheels shod in 33-inch all-terrain tires in the arches and installs custom air-ride suspension.

Other technical highlights include Brembo brakes all around, four Corbeau bucket seats in the cabin, a Momo Nero steering wheel and a modern infotainment system with Apple CarPlay support. The trunk area has four more seats to offer – basic folding paratrooper seats, but better than nothing.

Wrapping things up is an engine swap. The new LT4 V8 makes 650 PS (641 hp / 478 kW) and takes the brick-like Defender from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in five seconds flat – no small feat considering its weight.
