Land Rover Defender’s younger sibling is in the works, CEO confirms

The boss of Jaguar Land Rover has officially announced the development of a smaller crossover SUV with Defender looks.

The model is known under the provisional name ‘Defender Sport’ and is around 4.6 meters (180 inches) long. It is based on the unitized architecture known as EMA and is envisioned with a number of electrified powertrains (all-electric and possibly also hybrid).

Like its big brother from the gallery and video below, the Defender Sport is going to be a very capable off-roader when it debuts in year 2027. The electric version of the standard Defender is expected to come sooner, in 2026.
