The British car manufacturer Land Rover celebrates its 70th anniversary this year. To honor this memorable date, the company ordered an enormous silhouette of a Land Rover Defender SUV trampled into the snow high in the Swiss Alps.
The company hired Simon Beck, a British snow art guru, to project a 250-meter (820 ft.) long image of the Land Rover Defender on a snow-veiled mountain slope 2,700 meters (almost 9,000 ft.) above sea level. The artist admitted he had to make 20,984 steps and cover the distance of 16,5 kilometers (that’s over 10 miles) to complete the task.
The last current-generation Land Rover Defender rolled off the assembly lines in 2016. A limited batch of 150 cars equipped with V8 engines and priced at £150,000 and above will be produced later in 2018. The next-gen vehicle will premiere next year.
