Land Rover has spruced up its Discovery Sport SUV lineup, endowing it with more horsepower while keeping the exterior intact.
The entry-level 2.0-liter turbo diesel goes from 150 hp (112 kW) to 163 hp (122 kW) in its latest iteration, which is why it is now called D165 instead of D150. The peak torque stays the same at 380 Nm (280 lb-ft). Similar changes found their way to the D180, which becomes D200 and respectively gets 204 hp (152 kW) instead of 180 hp (134 kW). Its torque stays likewise unchanged at 430 Nm (317 lb-ft).
Just as before, all AWD Discovery Sport models benefit from 48V electric engine starters and 0.2-kWh batteries. The D165 spec allows choosing between front and all-wheel drive, as well as between manual and automatic gear switching. The D200 ships with AWD and auto included in all trim levels.
Finally, the new Black Special Edition brings back the 2.0-liter turbo-four gasoline engine rated at 290 hp (214 kW). The SUV in this spec also boasts 20-inch black wheels, dark décor throughout the body and special badges. The drivetrain is AWD automatic and supports up to 400 Nm (290 lb-ft) of torque. The car needs 7.4 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph), while the lower P250 spec (249 hp / 185 kW) manages the same in 7.8 seconds.
Inside the refreshed interior are a different steering wheel and a new infotainment system called Pivi (or Pivi Pro in higher trims). The infotainment boasts a revised menu system, enhanced performance, Spotify music support, and OTA updates for its apps, sat-nav maps and operating system. Further notable features include advanced air filtering and improved all-around camera view.
The entry-level 2021 Land Rover Discovery Sport starts from £31,915, marking a mere £10 premium over the old version.
