Next-gen Range Rover Sentinel bulletproof SUV receives a 380-HP V8

Land Rover has released a new version of its Range Rover Sentinel SUV armored to withstand gunfire and improvised explosive devices. The car now ships with a stronger V8 engine in place of the outdated V6.

The new mill has five liters of displacement room and produces up to 380 horsepower (283 kilowatts), which is 40 hp / 30 kW above the performance of its predecessor. It takes 10.4 seconds to get it running at 100 km/h (62 mph), and it maxes out just below 200 km/h (124 mph).

The bulletproof vehicle now takes advantage of an extra metric ton (2,200+ lb.) of armor plating, designed to offer maximum possible protection from gunfire and explosions.

The Sentinel also sports an improved chassis design, Run-flat tires guaranteed to go on for at least 50 kilometers (31 miles) after being damaged, a siren and flasher lights, windows that never open wider than 150 mm (6 inches, sufficient for exchanging papers), a public address system, and an emergency trapdoor that can be used in the event when all the main doors are blocked.
