E.C.D. hands over its first Tesla-powered Range Rover restomod

Times are changing, and as people’s tastes evolve, all car tuners really can do is try to keep up. Florida-based E.C.D. Automotive Design begins its incursion into the EV territory with a Range Rover packing a Tesla powertrain, rather than the usual crate V8.

The project is a one-off for a client, but more will be coming in the future, so you can contact the tuner and ask for a quotation.

The all-electric Range Rover Classic depicted here took 2,200 hours to build, and the company used the assistance of Electric Classic Cars (UK). The exterior was wisely left alone: the team only sanded it and gave it a fresh paint. Things get more interesting inside, where there is a modern audio system, satellite navigation, a reversing camera, and a multimedia unit with Bluetooth and iPhone support. The seats benefit from new light brown leather upholstery, there are occasional dark wood inserts, and the rear seat occupants may enjoy access to a cabinet of drinks.

Powering the ride is a Tesla motor rated at 456 PS (450 hp / 335 kW), which takes it from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.2 seconds. A 100-kWh battery is rated at 354 kilometers (220 miles) of range on a charge.
