Check out a unique 1972 Range Rover Shooting Brake

This could be hard to believe, but this Range Rover Shooting Brake is a production car that came out in a series of just six units, out of which only two or three have survived to this day. This one is up for grabs in the UK now, estimated at £110,000 - £170,000.

The Special Projects subdivision of the company built the Shooting Brake based on the three-door hatchback that looked just like in the attached video. The team had to stretch the wheelbase by 254 mm (10 inches) and add a tall, graded roof.

The car had originally been envisioned specifically as an ambulance, but it never made it to the market except for the six units that Land Rover assembled in early 1970s. The characteristic graded roof later made its comeback on the Land Rover Discovery, becoming its signature trait. As for this particular Range Rover Shooting Brake, it was one of the two units produced in 1972.

Surprisingly enough, this car actually made it to the St. John Hospital, where it had been used as an ambulance for 44 years. A private individual bought it in 2017 and carried out full restoration, adding six seats in the back where medical equipment once was.
